Paleo Tree Tour: Trees from the Fossil Record

  • State of Montana Arboretum 32 Campus Drive Missoula, MT, 59801 United States (map)

Kallie Moore, UM Paleontology Collections Manager and host of the YouTube channel PBS Eons, will lead a tour on trees in the State of Montana Arboretum with companion fossils in UM’s own collection.

Some of these trees lived in Montana and are no longer native, and some evolved with crow-sized dragonflies. Trees include the Bunya pine in the University Center, and the Champion Gingko on the north side of the Eck building. Consider geologic time through the lens of trees!

Meet at The Root interpretive site - north of Main Hall and west of the University Center near The Oval on UM campus.

This free, all-ages tour is offered twice!
